Technology for pupils

Discovery is finding ways for technology to help pupils learn challenging content in fun, creative and efficient ways.

Our approach to E-Learning

Discovery can see that any transformational educational vision is still founded in two realities:

  1. How we think and learn
  2. What schools, pupils, parents, teachers and the wider community want from education

We realise that successful innovations in education technology work within these realities. Discovery is finding ways for technology to help pupils learn challenging content in fun, creative and efficient ways whilst underpinning this with a genuine understanding about human cognition in the process. Therefore, our journey has allowed us to dispel the power of bad ideas, once you do this there are enormous opportunities for technology and education to intertwine and provide innovative teaching and learning for our children.

Discovery approach has been to build a learning structure around firm safeguarding protocols. This has allowed our online lessons and live chats to be an enjoyable practice for our teachers and learners rather than teaching sessions full of angst and fear. Working within a Trust allows us to share good practice, ideas, resources and to have a collaborative approach to this innovative process.

Each school has a three-year implementation plan which has really allowed our schools to plan a clear journey towards a strong blended learning approach for our children. We are taking a phased approach towards becoming innovative educators in the 21st Century curriculum. Each phase of our progress is reviewed and reassessed, we know that we have a long journey ahead of us but every member of staff is excited and committed to making every child a citizen of the new creative, digital age.

Edtech & E-Learning

As a reflection of the educational vision that sits behind our E-Learning approach we have been designated as one of 19 phase 1 EdTech Demonstrator Schools which enables Discovery to support other schools around the Country to improve their vision and planning for Edtech and E-Learning.
