Discovery Trust’s Head of Governance Designated as a National Leader of Governance

We are delighted to announce that Helen Stockill, Head of Governance for Discovery Trust, has been designated as a National Leader of Governance by the Department for Education (DfE).

Effective governance is key to sustained school improvement because of both the support and challenge it gives school leaders in delivering the very best education for every child.  As an NLG, Helen will support schools and trusts with governance challenges, providing governance expertise, external reviews and bespoke support.

Helen is well placed for this role having substantial and proven governance experience and expertise gained working for the Local Authority and as Head of Governance for Discovery Trust.  With over 15 years served as a governor herself she understands the challenges and complexities of the role.

This is an exciting period for the reformed National Leaders of Governance programme and, alongside her colleagues, Helen will play a critical role in improving the quality of governance in schools and trusts.
