Discovery Schools – Leading the way in developing the next generation of Teachers

Enderby Danemill, Woolden Hill and Asfordby Captains Close Primary Schools all receive prestigious Training School Status with Inspiring Leaders Teacher Training reflecting their excellence in training new Teachers.

Three Discovery Trust School have been awarded Training School status by Inspiring Leaders Teacher Training (SCITT) an Ofsted outstanding provider of initial teacher training based in the East Midlands. The accreditation marks the significant quality of experience and quality of the school to provide an Outstanding training experience to teachers in their training year. Discovery Trust is a founding partner of the Inspiring Leaders partnership and our three schools are the first receive the coveted title of Training School Status.

“Training Schools are a brand-new pilot initiative which will see four Primary schools play a more significant role in hosting teachers in their training year. Each year our partnership trains up to 120 aspirant Primary and Secondary school teachers who go on to inspire and transform the lives of pupils across the region. Our newly designated Training Schools will be at the heart of helping continue to improve our school-based approach to training teachers in line with the ambitions of our partners trusts and the Department of Educations policies around teacher retention.

Inspiring Leaders Teacher Training was formed in 2014 and has trained over 350 new teachers for schools in the region through its Ofsted outstanding school-based route. The partnership provides trainees with training which is led by expert teachers and an experience which is based in schools to help best prepare trainees for a career in teaching. Inspiring Leaders works closely with University partners to ensure trainees achieve Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) and is committed to inspiring the professional journeys of teachers in the area.
