Congratulations to Mowmacre Hill Primary School – Innovation Awards Finalist 2021
For the third year running, Leicestershire Live Innovation Awards celebrated the very best technology, services, digital advances, and creative thinking that Leicestershire and Rutland have to offer.
The purpose of the awards is to acknowledge the individuals, teams, businesses and public sector bodies that are leading the way in research and development and in manufacturing techniques, software and digital technologies.
The Mowmacre Community Beekeeping Project crowdfunding page on Space Hive caught the attention of George Oliver, founder of 1284 (corporate communication agency). He liked the story so put forward a nomination to the award.
Liga Orlovska, the schools’ mentor from Buzzing Roots, received notification in August that the project had been nominated and shortlisted as one of three finalists for the Innovations in Schools award. It was an unexpected surprise as the project is still in the early stages of development.
Vicki Peacock, F1 Teacher, at Mowmacre said, “Unfortunately, the project didn’t win but attending the award ceremony was an unforgettable experience that inspired and left us in awe of the innovative ideas ordinary people can aspire to develop in collaboration with academic bodies such as the DMU, Leicester University and Loughborough University. We hope to instil this quality into our pupils through their work with our humble bees”.
Congratulations to Mowmacre for making it to the Finals.
